2014 Election
Indonesian elections electoral activity
is probably the most complex in the world : Four million workers in 550,000
polling stations, which are scattered in different parts of a country
consisting of 17,000 islands, is charged with managing 700 million ballot
papers with 2,450 different designs in order to facilitate the selection of candidates

Legislative General Election
On 9 April 2014 election will be held to elect the members of the national legislature and the legislature for 33 provincial -level regions and 497 districts / cities. In Indonesia, there are two national legislative bodies : the House of Representatives ( DPR ) and the Regional Representative Council ( DPD ). Parliament is an existing entity established under the Act of 1945 and the Council, which was formed in 2001 is representative of a new kind of institution which is constitutionally formed through constitutional amendments as a move towards bicameralism in Indonesia. However, only the House that fully implement the legislative function ; DPD has a more limited mandate Combined these two institutions called the People's Consultative Assembly ( MPR ) . Representatives of both the House and the Council elected for a term of five years.
Presidential Election
The President is the leader of the executive power and can be chosen at most two times for a period of five years each. A political party or coalition of political parties that won 25 percent of the valid votes or obtain at least 20 per cent of parliamentary seats to nominate candidates for President and Vice- President pair. Presidential elections are held after the legislative elections in order to ensure compliance with the above requirements in running for President . Couple of President and Vice President elected directly by the people . The current president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, elected for a second and final time in the first round of elections in 2009 with the acquisition of 60.8 percent of the vote . Presidential elections will be held in July 2014. Exact date will be determined by the election commission in the near future. If a candidate does not achieve an absolute majority in the first round, a second round between the two candidates with the most votes will be held in September 2014.
